Cammax Nominated for Ticketing Technology of The Year Award

Cammax is thrilled to announce that we have been nominated for the prestigious Ticketing Technology of the Year award ahead of the upcoming Transport Ticketing Global Conference 2024.

Transport Ticketing Global (TTG) is the world’s largest and most influential Smart ticketing and mobility expo which brings together transport professionals, industry leaders, and specialists from over 60 countries. With in-depth case studies, engaging presentations, and panel discussions, TTG sets the agenda for the Smart ticketing sector and showcases the latest technologies shaping the future of transportation.

In addition to the extremely popular two- day conference, TTG organises a special annual Gala Dinner & Awards ceremony, an occasion where the incredible work done worldwide to revolutionise passenger experience through groundbreaking ticketing projects is celebrated. The winners of the Ticketing Technology of the Year award 2024 will be revealed on the evening of March 5th at the stunning Royal Garden Hotel, just a stone’s throw from Kensington Palace & Gardens in London.

Cammax’s Nomination: Pioneering Smart Rail Ticketing Kiosk

Cammax has earned this prestigious nomination owing to our innovative work with SilverRail and East Midlands Railway (EMR) in developing and launching the UK’s first truly Smart Rail Ticketing Kiosk, also known as the Smart Rail Ticket Vending Machine (TVM).

The Smart Rail TVM is a cutting-edge solution featuring SilverRail’s advanced Ticket Issuing System (TIS) ‘SilverCore’ and the intelligent UK Journey planner (IPTIS). This revolutionary system aims to transform the ticketing experience, providing passengers with access to flexible and affordable fares while streamlining the payment process.

Unlike the outdated ticket machines currently found at many UK train stations, the Smart Rail TVM acts as a dynamic shop window, enabling Train Operating Companies (TOCs) like EMR to showcase their complete product range. Passengers can choose from diverse ticketing options, including advance, off-peak, and walk-on rail tickets. In order to foster trust and transparency in the ticketing process, The Smart TVM always presents the cheapest fare option, ensuring pricing consistency and mirroring what passengers have come to expect from ticketing apps and websites.

The Smart Rail TVM also offers flexibility, allowing passengers to purchase tickets for future dates, up to 90 days in advance.  Further, the system displays discounts, including national rail cards and local promotions, maximising cost-effective options for passengers.

Equipped with optional Customer Information Screens (CIS), the Smart Rail TVM can also provide real-time updates on train schedules, delays, and cancellations. This feature enables passengers to make informed decisions, particularly in stations without a ticket office or when station staff aren’t present.

The first Smart Rail TVMs were rolled out to widespread praise in 2021, followed by the deployment of an additional 28 units in smaller stations across Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire. Since being launched passengers have embraced the new technology seamlessly. Looking ahead, the TVMs have the capacity to be enhanced and modified to effortlessly align with evolving travel trends, positioning the Smart Rail TVMs as a cornerstone of rail ticketing, both now and for the future.
