Kiosk Hardware Questions

What is an interactive kiosk?

An interactive kiosk is a computer terminal that provides people with self-service access to products and services. Kiosks are typically placed in retail stores, airports, hospitals and corporate spaces.

Like a home or office PC, a kiosk may provide Internet access for web surfing and email, tools for viewing multimedia files, and access to various other software applications. However, unlike a standard PC, kiosks are designed to be used by many different people, and they can be optimized to carry out several different functions that can be remotely managed.

Here at Cammax we manufacture and manage bespoke kiosks, touchscreen systems and Digital Signage Solutions. We utilize our expertise and experience to offer a complete end-to-end service; from hardware and software, to maintenance and aftercare.

Do you manufacture the kiosks?

Yes. All of the kiosks we sell are manufactured at our Castleford Factory here in the UK.

What are the benefits of kiosks?

The advantages that kiosks bring are significant and a growing number of companies from FTSE- listed organisations to local government authorities are now utilizing the units to deploy self-service applications. From increased customer satisfaction to lower overheads and increased footfall, interactive kiosks can save your business significant amounts of time and money.

What type of kiosks are available?

Kiosks come in all different shapes and sizes and at Cammax we will work with you to build units that reflect the needs of your business. Our most popular kiosks include:

Freestanding Kiosks

Our interactive freestanding kiosks can be tailored for a variety of applications, designed to meet the needs of your market. They can make a great visual impression on customers, with a robust construction built for heavy daily usage. We have a large range of DDA compliant kiosks for your business, which are easily accessible to all users.

Wall Mounted Kiosks

Wall mounted kiosks are useful when there is limited space available. The touch screen solutions in this range can be great as digital display boards, interactive information points and indoor or outdoor ticketing systems. These slimline kiosks are small but beautifully formed.

Desktop Kiosk

More rugged and boasting more authority than a simple touch screen monitor or panel PC, desktop kiosks occupy a very small footprint. Lightweight and portable, our desk mounted kiosks offer flexibility in the office or reception area.

Outdoor Kiosk

We produce outdoor kiosks designed to cope with the worst that the British weather can throw at them – driving rain, gale force winds or more rarely, sunshine. Our all- weather kiosk solutions are ideal as touch screen information points, ticketing systems or queue busting machines.

Vending Kiosk

Does your business need to dispense physical products? At Cammax we offer state- of- the- art custom vending machines that will keep customers coming back for your products. We handle the whole process from choosing your vending machine, through to installation and service management.

Do you offer a kiosk design service?

We offer a tailored design service to suit the needs of your business. Simply get in touch and one of our expert designers will sit with you to understand both your aesthetic and functional needs. Once we’ve got a greater understanding of what your business requires, we will send you visuals alongside a detailed proposal that’s ready to be manufactured and meets all legal requirements.

What features can I add to my kiosk?

At Cammax we offer a plethora of peripherals that can be added to your kiosk to enhance the unit. From printing functionality, RFID Readers and barcode scanners, to chip and pin devices and webcams- we’ve got it covered.

Kiosk Software Questions

What type of kiosk software do you offer?

At Cammax we’ve been working hard since 1999 to offer kiosk solutions that help businesses in every sector. Here are some of our most popular kiosk software options:

Prescription Payment Kiosks

We have developed a prescription payment kiosk specific to the NHS, to allow patients to pay for prescriptions during out of hours. This service allows A&E departments to capture thousands of pounds in lost revenue by taking payment for prescriptions when they previously would have been issued free of charge. The kiosks have also been adapted to incorporate payment for a wider range of hospital services such as maternity scans, crutches and walking aids.

Council Payment kiosk

Local authorities across the UK have benefitted from Cammax kiosks that have significantly improved the overall service provided by Councils whilst reducing transaction costs and improving customer service. The kiosks provide customers with the ability to pay for a wide range of services such as Council Tax, Fines, Licenses and School meals without having to queue to speak to staff.

Information Kiosk

The popularity and proliferation of touchscreen devices is making easily accessible information more and more of a necessity. With a Cammax information kiosk you can ensure that your consumers always have the information that they desire, at their fingertips. Used for displaying information, an information kiosk can be placed in a public area or on your businesses premises; in order to effectively help users and visitors to gain access to vital information.

Wayfinding Kiosk

Wayfinding kiosks provide hospitals, universities, and large organisations with a user friendly, touch-based and interactive solution for people visiting their sites. An intuitive user interface allows visitors to find a route map to their destination, and take a print out with them. Our wayfinding kiosks also offer a web based management system that allows you to manage your kiosks and modify names and directions for each location.

Multilingual and Translation Kiosk

As diversity and equality becomes more and more important in today’s environment, Cammax have been able to provide Public and Private sector organisations cost effective multi-lingual kiosk solutions. These kiosks have enabled customers such as the NHS, Police, businesses and universities to benefit from more effective communication with non-English speaking clients.

Ticketing Kiosk

We have worked closely with a wide range of different customers, partners and Passenger Transport Executives to develop our celebrated range of ticketing kiosks: the most cost effective, efficient kiosks available on the market today. This experience and knowledge enables us to create bespoke ticket kiosks specific to the needs of the local public and your business. Here are some of the common questions we’re asked about our ticketing units:

What Kind of Tickets can the Kiosks Dispense?

Virtually any kind of ticket can be printed by our state-of-the-art units; the kiosks just need to be programmed to carry out a specific function. The most basic ticket kiosks will dispense a single use paper ticket or label but our more advanced units can be programmed to print reusable tickets for multiple purposes including repeat use travel tickets.

Can Ticket Kiosks take Payments?

Yes. The good news is that the kiosks can perform virtually any task they are programmed to do. Our units can be built to accept notes/coins as well as card chip and pin transactions. One of the biggest payment advancements in recent years has been the introduction of contactless cards and we also offer kiosks with integrated contactlesss technology so you will never miss out on any form of payment.

Can ticket kiosks be compatible with my Existing System?

This questions is quite subjective because you must consider if the kiosk needs to be compatible with your existing system. If you require a kiosk to carry out a standalone task, such as dispensing change, then it’s not in your interest to link it to a Wi-Fi network or server.

If the kiosk is set to carry out more complex tasks then it can be integrated into existing systems via hardware or Wi-Fi connectivity, for more information please get in touch.

What if the Kiosk Develops a Software Problem?

At Cammax we’re proud of the aftercare we offer and if a problem arises a solution is usually easy to find. Most of our kiosks come supplied with diagnostic software that monitors usage and will highlight any problems but if the issue persists then a member of our team will be more than happy to help.

Will users understand the kiosk?

People are becoming progressively more familiar with kiosks but the concern is understandable. The easiest way to prevent confusion and queues is to make the kiosk as quick and easy to use as possible – avoid confusing imagery or long processing times otherwise you could have a lot of people waiting.

The key advice in order to prevent congestion is to initially have a member on staff on hand at the kiosk location to support confused users as they get used to the technology.

Do you offer SMART Ticketing kiosks?

We have partnered with Ecebs, the UK’s leading provider of ITSO based smart ticketing software to offer ITSO based ticket fulfilment via our kiosks to the transport sector. Our partnership with Ecebs brings our market leading SMART ticket kiosks together with Ecebs Paragon ticketing software in an integrated transport solution.

These kiosks are being installed throughout the country making it easier for public transport passengers to buy and use tickets. Working in partnership with ECEBS, Cammax kiosks can assist the public in accessing SMART cards and using the kiosks to top up the required product.

What about kiosk software security?

We offer a comprehensive range of security measures from the initial wrap around secure browser, through to Internet walled gardens and firewalls. Furthermore, we offer the option of remote management to update the kiosk software when required.

After implementation, how do we update the system?

We design the system around your requirements; we can either update the content for you or we can design the solution to allow your staff to update the system easily by a non-technical person.

How do I choose the right software?

One of our project managers will sit down with you and plan your system and we will then present content designs and a roadmap. Throughout the process we will liaise with you in order to ensure the system meets all of your requirements.
